Dr. Lauren Thompson grew up in the small town of Grandview, Texas, where she developed her love for veterinary medicine when her parents purchased her first horse Apache. Her passion continued to grow as she raised and showed livestock across the state and nation, and spent time at the Alvarado Veterinary Clinic. After high school, Lauren attended Texas A&M University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 2013 and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.
As an undergrad, Lauren developed a strong passion for meat science, ruminant nutrition, and herd health. During veterinary school, Lauren worked alongside a boarded theriogenologist at Brazos Valley Genetics, gaining experience in bovine embryo transfer, participated in the Veterinary Medical Student Research Training Program performing a project in Ruminant Nutrition, and completed a Bovine externship for Zoeits.
Lauren is now part of the Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic family, where she practices large- and small-animal medicine, fulfilling God’s calling in caring for his creation.
When Lauren isn’t helping animals at the clinic, you can find her spending time outside with her dogs, fishing, traveling across the globe with her husband, Dr. Justin Casares, and working with their cattle. During the fall and spring you will find her cheering on the Aggie football and baseball teams. Lauren is excited to be a part of the team and getting more involved within the communities she is serving.
