What to Expect

When your pet has a surgical procedure at Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic of Lockhart, he or she receives quality surgical care by veterinary professionals. A pet’s surgery can be a stressful time; let us help you prepare with our list of what to expect when your pet goes in for surgery:

  1. Do not feed your pet after 10 p.m. the night before a surgery
  2. Check your pet in for surgery at Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.
  3. After check-in, your pet’s veterinarian will discuss the procedure with you
  4. A pre-anesthetic blood test will be performed
  5. Your pet will be sedated and/or anesthetized, then the procedure will begin
  6. Be sure we can contact you throughout the day for updates on your pet’s condition
  7. Your pet will be sent home with post-procedure care instructions and pain medication if needed
